Jen Marlowe’s book wins the Palestine Book Award

Author and human rights advocate Jen Marlowe co-authored a book with Palestinian peace activist Sami Al-Jundi called The Hour of Sunlight: One Palestinian’s Journey from Prisoner to Peacemaker. We are happy to announce that the book has won the Middle East Monitor’s inaugural Palestinian Book Award for the best English language book about Palestine. Jen traveled to London to accept the prize:

“It was such a tremendous honor and privilege for The Hour of Sunlight to have been chosen for the award, and such an important affirmation of how important Sami’s story is, and the capacity it has to reach people far and wide.
The joy was incomplete, however, as Sami was not standing by my side, but was, rather, at his home in the Old City of Jerusalem, doing his best to participate in the ceremony over a shaky Skype connection. The British Embassy, you see, had not seen fit to grant Sami a visa to join the ceremony.”
