We are happy to announce a brilliant new speaker, Elissa Washuta. Elissa Washuta is an active member of the Seattle literary community, and she serves as adviser and lecturer for the Department of American Indian Studies at the University of Washington. In her talk, The Twilight Series: Native Image and Myth, Elissa says that when young women are asked to choose between Team Jacob and Team Edward, everyone looses. “I’m on Team Quileute, Team Native, Team Watlala,” she says, “the people I am descended from, on whose ancestral land in Southern Washington much of the Twilight film footage was shot.”
